The beaches of Nettuno

The town beach

The most convenient beach runs along the seafront, right by the medieval village and the marina. The sand is fine and pale and the seabed slopes gently, so it is also good for children.

Beach clubs with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers alternate with free stretches where you bring your own umbrella. In high season the clubs in the centre fill up early, especially at weekends: it is worth arriving in the morning.

Other beaches in Nettuno

Heading south, the coast becomes quieter and more natural.

Marinaretti

Torre Astura

the medieval tower built on the sea is one of the most photographed spots on the Lazio coast. The area borders a military zone: check access days and times before you go.

Anzio beaches, a few minutes away

Anzio is right next to Nettuno, a few minutes away by car or train.

Tor Caldara Nature Reserve

a regional nature reserve on the sea, along the Via Ardeatina between Anzio and Lavinio, about 15 minutes by car from Nettuno. Paths cross the Mediterranean scrub, pass the sulphur springs and the 16th-century tower that gives the reserve its name, and lead down to a wild beach. Entry is regulated and opening days and times change with the season: check before you go.

Practical tips

The beach season runs from June to September, but in May and October the sea in Nettuno is often still pleasant and the beaches are almost empty. In winter the seafront is lovely for a sunset walk.
